Costco Frozen

Mini Eclairs

An original piece written by Katie Walenta (NYU, Tisch ‘20). It premiered on August 15, 2019 for a limited run as a part of The Tank’s annual “LadyFest” 7x7 collection.

“LadyFest” is an initiative presented by The Tank to highlight “new work by some of the most exciting lady or non-gender conforming artists out there - in celebration of womxnhood and the female voice, in all it’s glory.”

“Costco Frozen Mini Eclairs” featured Megan Reilly O’Neill and Hannah Germansky as ‘Doctor’ and ‘Patient’ respectively. It was directed by Flynn Osman.

“Costco Frozen Mini Eclairs” is a poignant and thought-provoking piece that examines the relationship between the subconscious and obsession. After seeing an ad in her college newspaper, the Patient submits herself for extensive psychoanalytical evaluation in exchange for her drug of choice: a single box of Costco frozen mini eclairs. Walenta uses humor, quirkiness, and a little bit of chocolate to examine the intrusiveness of psychological research and the lengths to which one is willing to go to feed addiction.
